LABORATORY

TEXmarket  has a modern equipped laboratory. There we check in accordance with international standards the quality of our fabrics.

The following tests are performed n our laboratory:

Weight test

Materials are weighted in order to check the indicated/ requested weight.

Washing test

This test done properly is the simplest and most important. It is checked whether the materials do not warp after repeated washing and retain all other original properties.

Martindale method

The Martindale is a unit for quantifying the abrasion resistance of textiles.
The Martindale method, also known as the Martindale rub test, simulates natural wear of a seat cover, where the textile sample is rubbed against a standard abrasive surface with a specified force. The test equipment works in intervals of 5000 cycles, totalling the wear number (unit: Martindale) of abrasion cycles that leads to the material being worn to a specified degree. The higher the value, the more resistant the material is to abrasion.

Orbitor Snagging und Pilling test

The Orbitor is a consistent and reliable way to test the pilling and snagging properties of woven and knitted fabrics. The fabrics are stress tested, using SnagPods which utilize 4 snagging bars (Snagging Test) or no bars (Pilling test). After 3000 rotations the fabrics are tested and evaluated based on a scale from 1- 5 (5: no damage; 1: completely destroyed).

Spray Rating test

The performance of waterproof materials is a serious business for high-tech fabric manufacturers. The Spray Rating Tester (SRT) performs a shower test to determine the resistance of fabric to surface wetting by water. To determine the ability of fabrics to repel water, 250ml of water is poured through a funnel and the water repellency is evaluated. The evaluation is done by the comparison of the material with the standard ISO-table. If the surface is completely wet, it is indicated a value of 0, but if water is completely rejected, the value is equal to 100.

Hydrostatic water pressure test

This test measures the resistance of a fabric to the penetration of water under hydrostatic pressure. It is applicable to all types of fabrics, including those treated with a water resistant or water repellent finish. Water resistance depends on the repellency of the fibers and yarns, as well as the fabric construction. We measure the water pressure, which is increased steadily until the third water drop appears on the surface. We also measure the waterproofness of the textiles at a given time and pressure.

Elasticity and pressure test

The measurement device was developed on demand of TEXmarket in cooperation with the University of Innsbruck. In the elasticity measurement, we measure the line load to 25%, 40% and 65% elongation. In the pressure measurement, we measure the force needed for a compression of 25%, 40% and 65% with a stamp having the diameter of 200 mm (this serves especially in cycling for the analysis of seat cushions).
